This role is responsible for the technical and operational leadership of the PAS platform across its full lifecycle — implementation, integration, modernization, and ongoing evolution.
This is a hands-on leadership role that blends technical depth, delivery accountability, and people leadership. The PAS Platform Leader will manage a small, high-impact team and work closely with business partners, architecture, vendors, and delivery teams to ensure the platform is stable, scalable, and aligned with SBLI’s business strategy.
Key Responsibilities:
Platform Leadership
- Own the PAS platform as a strategic enterprise system, accountable for stability, scalability, and long-term evolution.
- Serve as the primary IT leader for PAS-related initiatives, enhancements, and modernization efforts.
- Ensure the platform aligns with enterprise architecture standards and business objectives.
Delivery & Execution
- Lead platform delivery activities including configuration, integration, data migration support, testing coordination, and release management.
- Partner with vendors and internal teams to deliver platform capabilities on time and within expectations.
- Balance out-of-the-box capabilities with configuration and customization decisions, focusing on maintainability and cost control.
People & Team Management
- Lead and develop a team of approximately five engineers, analysts, and platform specialists.
- Set clear goals, priorities, and expectations for the team.
- Coach team members to grow both technically and professionally.
- Ensure the team operates effectively in an Agile or hybrid delivery model.
Integration & Ecosystem Management
- Oversee integrations between PAS and surrounding systems (e.g., finance, underwriting, claims, commissions, document management).
- Ensure data flows, interfaces, and dependencies are well-designed, documented, and reliable.
Governance & Stakeholder Engagement
- Act as a key IT partner to Product, Operations, and Business stakeholders.
- Participate in governance forums, architectural reviews, and planning sessions.
- Provide clear communication on platform health, risks, and roadmap.
Operational Excellence
- Ensure production stability, performance monitoring, and incident response processes are in place.
- Partner with infrastructure, security, and support teams to meet availability, security, and compliance requirements.
- Drive continuous improvement in platform operations and delivery practices.
Qualifications & Experience:
Required
- Bachelor’s degree in IT or related field.
- 8 years of experience in IT, with significant experience supporting or delivering core enterprise platforms.
- 3 years of experience leading technical teams or platform-focused teams.
- Experience working on large, complex systems involving configuration, rules engines, integrations, and data-intensive workflows.
- Strong understanding of SDLC, Agile and hybrid delivery models.
- Proven ability to work with external vendors and internal stakeholders.
- Excellent communication skills — able to translate between technical and business audiences.
- Ability to work hybrid office scheule - three days in office including mandatory Wednesdays.
Preferred
- Experience with insurance or financial services systems (policy administration, billing, claims, underwriting, etc.).
- Background as a senior engineer, architect, or technical lead prior to moving into management.
- Experience leading platform modernization or replacement initiatives.
- Comfort operating in environments with multiple dependencies and competing priorities.
Leadership Attributes We Value
- Ownership mindset — treats the platform as a product, not just a system.
- Pragmatic decision-maker — balances ideal architecture with business realities.
- Strong collaborator — works effectively across IT and business teams.
- Calm under pressure — able to lead through ambiguity and change.
- Bias for delivery — focuses on outcomes, not just analysis.
